What happens inside free spins
During the round, three things distinguish it from base-game play:

The wild/scatter (glowing tome) continues to function as both wild (substituting for paying symbols on regular payline matches) and scatter (counting toward retrigger and scatter pay). Note: the wild doesn't get selected as the expanding symbol — only the paying symbols can be.
